Box Score UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – No. 22 Parkland women's basketball defeated Governors State University JV on Wednesday, December 4. Five Cobras scored in double digits in the 74-60 win on the road.
The Cobras (5-3) tied with the Jaguars several times in the first quarter, but never took the lead. Going into the second quarter, the Cobras trailed 15-13. Parkland held the Jaguars to nine points in the second quarter, taking the 26-24 lead going into the half.
Danielle Ruffin opened the second half with a three-pointer, extending the lead quickly for the Cobras. By the end of the third quarter, the Cobras led 45-39. The Jaguars were never able to pull ahead again, and the Cobras closed out the Jaguars on their home court to secure the win.
Parkland went 29-59 from the field (49.2%), 4-8 from three (50%), and 12-19 from the free throw line (63.2%).
Danielle Ruffin led the offense with 17 points, while
Crissiana Rose grabbed 12 of the team's 38 rebounds.
