No. 4 Cobras Close Out 66-61 Win at Danville Area CC

Parkland powers past DACC on the road

DANVILLE, Ill. – The No. 4 Parkland College men's basketball team rallied to defeat Danville Area Community College 66-61 on the road on Wednesday, February 14. The Cobras (23-2) (7-1) got revenge on the Jaguars (14-9) (5-3), their lone conference loss this season, with a second-half, come-from-behind win on Wednesday. Parkland redshirt sophomore Grant Coleman (18 points, 4 assists) led the team in scoring and assists as the Cobras extended their winning streak to seven games in a row.

"I'm really proud of our defensive effort tonight," head coach John Bowler said after the game. "Danville is a well-coached team that is tough to beat at their place. Our defense carried us to the win. We need to bring that defensive effort night in and night out."

A slow start for both offenses, the Cobras took their first lead, 15-14, following a Ken Sallee three with 9:46 to go in the first half. The Jaguars tied the game at 21-21 with just over two minutes to go and closed the half on a 7-0 run to take a 30-26 lead into halftime. In the second half, Parkland quickly tied the game back up, and a Jabryn Anderson bucket gave the Cobras a 42-40 lead with 11:53 left. The Jaguars trimmed the deficit to one point multiple times down the stretch, but the Cobras answered every time, extending the lead to 59-53 with just under two minutes to go. Parkland went 5-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to preserve its lead, and the Cobras closed out the Jaguars 66-61.
