No. 5 Parkland Volleyball Goes 3-0 at the Opening Weekend Tournament

Parkland wins the first three matches of the fall 2024 season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ROCKFORD, Ill. – The No. 5 ranked Parkland College volleyball team opened the fall 2024 season on Friday, August 23rd, at the Opening Weekend Tournament in Rockford, Illinois. The Cobras went 3-0 on the first day of the tournament, sweeping all three teams that they faced.
 
The Cobras secured the first sweep of the day against Bryant & Stratton College, winning set one 25-14 before taking sets two and three 25-15 and 25-17. Alayna Rudebeck led the team in assists with 13. Libby Bodine had 26 digs for the Cobras.
 
The next match for Parkland was much of the same, as the Cobras took little time to sweep Muskegon Community College (25-14, 25-14, 25-18). Addie Beekman led the offense with 9 kills, while Libby Bodine added 17 digs.
 
The final match of day saw Parkland battle South Mountain Community College, with the Cobras taking the first set 25-12 and the second set 25-17. The Cougars battled in the third set, but the Cobras ended up on top to win 26-24. Hailey Warfel supplied 9 kills and 22 assists. 
 
Up next, Parkland remains in Rockford at the Opening Weekend Tournament, playing two matches tomorrow, Saturday, August 24th. The Cobras will face Florida State College at Jacksonville at 12:00 PM and North Central Michigan College at 2:15 PM. For more information, visit the tournament website here.
