Box Score Waterloo, IA. – The No. 10 Parkland College men's soccer team earned their first win of the season against Hawkeye Community College on Saturday, August 24
th. The Cobras (1-0-1) beat the RedTails 2-1 in a close game on the road.
The Cobras scored first with a goal from sophomoreÂ
Hidenori Akasaka in the 47th minute. The RedTails answered with a goal, tying the game in the 53rd minute. As the clock ran down,

William Arana assist to give Parkland its first win. Sophomore

"This was a great test of a young team, long road game against a really good team in the Iowa region," Parkland head coach
Mark Sikora stated after the game. "Things are still coming together for us, but I saw exciting qualities today from various players. Hidenori got his first goals of the season, which is something we must have to be successful. With all other things being equal, good shifts from
Isaac Warren,
Diego Zarco, and
Juliano Baptiste put us over the top. Not our most complete game, but good enough."
