Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROCKFORD, Ill. – The No. 5 Parkland Volleyball team improved to 7-0 after posting two wins in the final day of the Opening Weekend Tournament on Sunday, August 25^th. The Cobras swept five out of six teams in the tournament.
 
The Cobras started the day off with a match against Iowa Lakes Community College (1-4), winning in three sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-10). Maliah Sparks led the team with 8 kills. Libby Bodine added 17 digs and Alayna Rudebeck supplied 18 assists.  
 
The final match of the tournament for Parkland was a back-and-forth battle against Gulf Coast State College (5-1). The Cobras lost the first set to the Lady Commodores 25-23 but came back to win the second set 25-22 and the third set 25-23. Gulf Coast State College had a rally in it, however, as the Lady Commodores took set four 25-22. In the fifth set, the Cobras came back to win 15-6, giving the Lady Commodores its first loss of the season. Addie Beekman had 23 kills and 28 digs for the Cobras. 
 
Up next, Parkland faces Lincoln Land Community College in the first conference matchup of the season. This match is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28.
