CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –  Parkland College Athletics and Cobras Softball are proud to announce Leonard Sementi as the next head softball coach of Parkland College. The former Tuscola High School head coach brings 23+ years of softball coaching experience to Parkland College. Hailing from Byron, Illinois, Sementi also has experience coaching for travel organizations, such as the Central Illinois Diamonds and the ECI Dynamite.Â

"I've spent a lot of time around softball and I decided to make the change and take on a new challenge," Sementi said. "I'm looking forward to coaching at the college level. Parkland is a great school and has a strong athletic history, I'm hoping myself and the team can just add to its success."

During his time at Tuscola High School, Sementi accumulated 500+ career wins, 11 regional championships, 4 sectional titles, 5 elite eight appearances, and a 4
th place finish at state in 2012. Over the course of his career, Sementi has helped 42 players continue their softball career into college, including seven players competing at the Division 1 level. Sementi is also being inducted into the Illinois Coaches Association Hall of Fame.Â

"Coach Sementi has a proven and successful track record with teams he has led in the past. Coach Sementi also has numerous individuals that have gone on and played at the next level after their high school softball careers. Once again, we are excited to have Coach Sementi taking over the reins of our successful softball program and we are looking forward to seeing the amazing things he and his Cobra teams will accomplish in the future."
Sementi started his coaching duties in July, joined by assistant coaches Erin Walker and Josh Shelmadine.Â
