Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –The No. 3 ranked Cobras volleyball team earned two more wins at the Parkland Mid-Season Invite on Friday, September 20th. Parkland (21-1) defeated both Des Moines Area Community College (6-9) and Southeastern Iowa Community College (6-11) in three sets. In 22 matches, Parkland has swept 17 teams.
The Cobras were led by outside hitter
Addie Beekman in the match against Des Moines Area Community College, who had an impressive 13 kills and 17 digs. Beekman scored 16 points for the Cobras.
Ashlee Freeman and
Hailey Warfel had 15 assists each, while
Libby Bodine added 15 digs. The Cobras defeated the Bears 25-16, 25-14, 25-16.
Following the victory against DMACC, Parkland moved on to defeat Southeastern Iowa Community College 25-14, 25-18, 25-18.
Brooklyn Holdener had ten kills for the Cobras, followed by
Shay McMillen, who added nine kills. As a team, the Cobras finished with 80 digs in the match.
Parkland is currently leading the nation in digs (1447), points (1219), block assists (266), and service aces (212).
Up next, the Cobras host day two of the Parkland Mid-Season Invite on Saturday, September 21st. The Cobras play Hawkeye Community College (5-9) at 9:00 AM and Wabash Valley College (6-7) at 11:00 AM.
