Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 13 Parkland men's soccer battled Division I Southwestern Illinois College (4-3-3) on Saturday, September 21st, but neither team was able to score, and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.Â
Â
"The result really came down to our inability to finish our chances so there was a feeling that we let it slip away," Parkland head coach
Mark Sikora said after the match. "We had a great second half vs a strong DI program. Being able to handle the reigning NJCAA DI Player of Week was a great challenge but the backline of Clinton, Ebenezer, and Boti (along with the play of both goalkeepers Matteo and Haruki) did just that and gave us a chance to win. All in all, everyone who played today did fairly well, just could not find the elusive game winner."
Â
Parkland recorded six shots on goal from five Cobras.
Haruki Arakawa had four saves, while
Matteo Puli added two saves.Â
Â
Up next, the Cobras travel to Robinson, Illinois, to play Division I Lincoln Trail College (0-4). Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.Â
