Box Score 2 ROBINSON, Ill. – No. 13 Parkland men's soccer dropped a match to Division I Lincoln Trail College (1-5) on Wednesday, September 25th. The Cobras are now 3-2-3 overall after losing 1-0 to the Statesmen on the road. Lincoln Trail scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute.
"This is becoming an unfortunate trend for us; being the better team for a large portion of the game but struggling to find goals when we need them," Parkland head Coach
Mark Sikora admitted. "Due to my own failure to prepare the team in the beginning for the difficult challenge against a quality NJCAA DI team, we fell behind in the early stages of the game. To our players' credit, they picked up the intensity in the late stages of the first half and continued into the second half with great play from
Yali Cohen and
Gustavo Poli, but it was not enough in the end."
Parkland recorded five shots on goal from
Noah Barkley (2),
Hidenori Akasaka (2), and
Yali Cohen (1).
Matteo Puli had three saves in 90 minutes of play.
"We will work to improve as the next game is now even more important for us in the Region standings," Sikora added.
Up next, the Cobras host John Wood Community College (0-4-2) on Saturday, September 28th. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
