No. 13 Cobras Win 7-1 Over John Wood Community College

Parkland defeats the Blazers for the second time this season

Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 13 Parkland men's soccer hosted conference rival John Wood Community College (0-5-2) on Saturday, September 28th. John Wood found the back of the net first, but Parkland responded with 7 unanswered goals. The Cobras defeated the Blazers 7-1.

"Today was all about being steady and doing the job, not falling into bad habits," Parkland head coach Mark Sikora stated after the match. "We weren't great to start but definitely settled in once they went a man down in the first half. It was a solid performance all the way around, but the day really belonged to William Arana who not only had 3 assists but also scored one of the best goals you're ever going to see at any level. I am a little worried with some injuries that came in the second half and having such a difficult match in two days but these things happen in a long season."

William Arana had 2 shots on goal, 1 goal, and 3 assists in the win. Parkland outshot John Wood 15-2 (14 shots on goal) and produced 17 corner kicks to improve to 4-2-3 on the season. The Cobras are currently ranked 3rd in the nation in corner kicks.
