Parkland Rebounds With Victory

Cobras capitalize on early momentum

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — October 4, 2025 — Parkland College men's soccer bounced back in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, defeating South Suburban College 3–1 at home.

The Cobras struck quickly, netting three goals in the opening 16 minutes. Defender Liam Matson opened the scoring in the 6th minute off an assist from Gustavo Poli, followed by back-to-back goals from Santiago Samame in the 10th and 16th minutes. Noah Molitor and Kyotaro Mori each added an assist in the effort.

Despite a goal from South Suburban's Gio Melgoza in the 20th minute, Parkland's defense held strong for the remainder of the match. Goalkeepers Tom Evers and Hayden Litteken combined for two saves to preserve the victory.

The match featured a flurry of penalty cards for both teams, including nine yellows and two reds, but the Cobras maintained their composure to secure the win. With the result, Parkland improves to 7–7 overall.

Up next, the Cobras will travel to Normal, Illinois, to face Heartland Community College on Wednesday, October 9th at 4:00PM.
