CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — October 3-4, 2025 — No. 6 Parkland College volleyball team delivered a commanding performance over the weekend, going a perfect 4–0 at its own Mid-Season Invite. On Friday, the Cobras swept Kankakee Community College (3–0) and beat Madison College 3-1. Saturday, the Cobras closed out the tournament with back-to-back sweeps over Delta College (3–0), and Morton College (3–0).
Across the two-day tournament, Parkland dropped just one set in four matches, showcasing consistent balance on both sides of the net.
Friday, Oct. 3 — Kankakee and Madison
Parkland opened the weekend with a decisive sweep over Kankakee Community College, winning by set scores of 25–12, 25–4, and 25–7. The Cobras posted a team hitting efficiency of .371, led by Natalie Alexander's seven kills (.750) and Sammi Christman's 4 kills (.667). Hailey Warfel and Shay McMillen each added 4 and 2 kills respectively, while Anna McEwen anchored the back row with 15 digs. Parkland's serve receive efficiency remained steady at 91.7%, and the team totaled 11 aces in the dominant win.
In the next matchup, Parkland battled through a competitive four-set win over Madison College, 23–25, 25–20, 25–18, 25–18. Riley Reis and Shay McMillen each led the attack with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while Bella McKinney and Hailey Warfel contributed 8 apiece. Warfel also distributed the ball with precision, recording 33 assists and 12 digs for a double-double. Defensively, Anna McEwen once again led the team with 29 digs, and Parkland combined for 12 total blocks.
Saturday, Oct. 4 — Delta and Morton
The Cobras continued their winning ways on Saturday morning, sweeping Delta College 25–15, 25–8, and 25–16. Parkland hit .438 as a team, with six different players recording at least 5 kills. McMillen paced the attack with 9 kills, followed closely by Warfel, McKinney, and Alexander, each with 7. Warfel tallied another 26 assists, while McEwen posted 32 digs in the back row.
In the tournament finale, Parkland defeated Morton College 25–8, 25–9, and 25–14. The Cobras hit an impressive .528, led by McMillen's 12 kills (.611) and Reis's 12 kills (.500). Alexander added 5 kills on a .625 efficiency clip, while Warfel dished out 34 assists and eight service aces to guide the offense. McEwen and Warfel combined for 16 digs, and Parkland closed the weekend with 48 total digs and 18 aces in the final match.
Up next, the Cobras will travel to Canton, Illinois on October 8th to play Spoon River College at 6:00PM.
