Cobras Clinch Regional Finals Victory

Parkland advances to District Championship

Box Score

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — November 1, 2025 — The Parkland College men's soccer team claimed the Region 24 Championship on Friday afternoon, defeating Heartland Community College 1-0 at home. With the win, the Cobras improve to 10-8 and extend their postseason run, earning a spot in next week's District Championship tournament.

After a tightly contested first half, the match remained scoreless until the 60th minute, when Gustavo Poli broke through with an unassisted goal to give Parkland the advantage. The Cobras' back line and goalkeeper Tresody Ondongo held strong the rest of the way, preserving the shutout and sealing the program's second consecutive regional title.

Ondongo finished with four saves, anchoring a defensive performance that limited the Hawks to just four shots on goal. Offensively, Parkland generated 14 total shots, including two on target from Poli and one each from Isaac Warren and Santiago Samame.

With the regional championship secured, the Cobras advance to the District Championship tournament, scheduled for November 7–8 (match details to be announced), where they will compete for a berth in the national tournament.
