Box Score 3 VICKSBURG, Mississippi – No. 21 Parkland College softball dropped two games at the Hinds JUCO Classic on Saturday, February 22. The Cobras (5-4) fell to Hinds Community College (7-6) and Northwest Mississippi Community College (11-1) in the final games of the tournament.Â

The Cobras played Hinds Community College again after the tournament, defeating them 14-2 in the rematch. This game was moved up a day due to expected weather conditions in Mississippi.Â

Game 1: Hinds Community College 4, No. 21 Parkland College 3

Hinds got on the board in the top of the 1st inning, and
Nicole Sinks answered in the bottom of the inning, hitting a solo home run to center field to tie the game 1-1. The game remained tied until the bottom of the 5th inning, when
Ellie Lowe homered and gave the Cobras the 2-1 lead.
Reece Sarver followed up by hitting a sacrifice fly to score another run and give Parkland the 3-1 lead. Hinds followed suit in the top of the 6th inning, making the game even once again after scoring two of their own runs. The game was still tied 3-3 at the end of the 7th inning, so the game went into an extra inning. Hinds scored a run after hitting a single in the top of the 8th, taking its first lead of the game. The Cobras were unable to get on the board in their last at bat, and they took the 4-3 loss. The Cobras had nine hits in the game, led by
Tori Thomas, who had three hits in four at bats.Â

Mya Brown (8.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 K) pitched all eight innings for the Cobras, taking the loss.Â

Game 2: Northwest Mississippi Community College 6, No. 21 Parkland College 2

The Cobras didn't get on the board until the 4th inning, after Northwest Mississippi already had a 6-0 lead. Back-to-back doubles by
Reece Sarver and
Nicole Sinks in the top of the 4th scored a run to cut the deficit to five runs. Sinks advanced to third after
Kailee Otto singled to left field, then scored by stealing home. Neither time scored again the rest of the game, and the Cobras fell 6-2 to the Rangers in the final game of the Hinds JUCO Classic. Sinks led the Cobras with two hits, and Sarver, Otto, and
Kallie Evans all had one hit apiece.Â

Lucy Fearday (4.2 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 K) pitched 4.2 innings in relief.Â

Nicole Sinks hit an inside the park home run in her first at bat of the game, getting the Cobras on the board in the top of the 1st inning. Hits from Sinks,
Ellie Lowe, and
Lindsey Muskopf helped the Cobras extend their lead to 6-0 in the 3rd inning. Eight more Cobra runs crossed the plate in the next two innings, and the Cobras held the Lady Eagles to just two runs in five innings. Sinks hit two home runs and tallied six RBIs. In nine games, Sinks is batting .538 with 14 hits and 12 RBIs.

Claire Black (3.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER) earned the win for the Cobras and
Lucy Fearday (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 K) pitched two innings in relief, allowing no hits.Â
