Box Score RANTOUL, Ill. – No. 13 Parkland College baseball won over Morton College (0-1) on Monday, February 24, at the Rantoul Sports Complex. An explosive six-run 7th inning for the Cobra offense helped lift Parkland to its fourth win of the season.

The Cobras (4-0) scored first in the bottom of the 2nd inning, after Nick Guidici hit a solo home run to left field. The score remained 1-0 until the 7th inning, when the Cobra offense came alive. Jax Hisle started it off for the Cobras, doubling to right field to score a run. Mark Mennecke followed up with a home run to left field, scoring two runs. Up next, Cody DelFavero and John Shuey both get on base, and then Guidici hits his second home run of the day to score another three runs and give the Cobras the 7-0 advantage. The Panthers scored all three of their runs in the top of the 8th, but a base hit from DelFavero in the bottom of the inning gave Parkland the 8-3 lead, and then Collin Cirks struck out three out of four batters in the top of the 9th to secure the win. 
 
The Cobras collected 10 hits in the win, led by Guidici with three. Mennecke, Hisle, and DelFavero each had two hits, and Alex Schimmel added one.
 
Lane Lorton (3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) earned the win for the Cobras after relieving starting pitcher Tyler Tylka (4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K) in the 5th inning. Cade Starrick (1.0 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K) and Collin Cirks (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K) each pitched one inning apiece. 
 
Up next, the Cobras play a doubleheader against DI Lake Land College (5-4) on Tuesday, February 25. The games are scheduled for 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM at the Rantoul Sports Complex.
