Box Score 2 RANTOUL, Ill. – The No. 13 ranked Parkland College baseball team won two games over NJCAA Division I Lake Land College (5-6) on Tuesday, February 25. The Cobras collected 23 hits in the two games, led by
Adison Worthman with five.Â

The Cobras (6-0) got the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning, after
John Shuey doubled and scored two runs. Lake Land followed up quickly, scoring a run in the top of the 3rd inning, but home runs from
Jax Hisle and
Adison Worthman put another four runs on the board in the bottom of the inning. Parkland compiled another three runs in the 5th and 6th innings, and came out on top 9-2.Â

The Cobras had 15 hits in the game, with three hits and three RBI coming from Worthman.Â

Gavin Parkerson (2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 5 K) earned the win for the Cobras.
Alex McHale (3.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) allowed two hits in 3.1 innings and
Richard Gomez (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) pitched in the 7th inning, striking out two batters and allowing no hits.Â

The Cobras got things going in the 1st inning, taking the 3-1 lead thanks to hits from
Adison Worthman and
Will Applegate. The Lakers took the lead in the top of the 5th, but a
Jax Hisle home run in the bottom of the inning cut the lead to one run. Following that, Worthman, Applegate, and Nick Guicidi all got on base. With bases loaded,
John Shuey drew a walk, scoring a run, and then Applegate scored on a wild pitch to take the 6-5 lead. The Cobras scored another five runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, and did not allow the Lakers to score again. Parkland won 11-5 over the Lakers, improving to 6-0 on the season.Â

Mark Mennecke and Worthman each had two hits for the Cobras, and Applegate tallied three RBI.
Mike Boyce (1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K) earned the win for the Cobras after relieving starting pitcher
Cody DelFavero (4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K).
Logan Gale (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) threw one inning, striking out two batters.Â

Up next, the Cobras travel to Mattoon, Illinois, to play in the Otto Memorial Baseball Tournament on Saturday, March 1. The Cobras play Division I Olive-Harvey College (1-1) at 10:00 AM and Harper College (1-0) at 12:30 PM.Â
