EAST PEORIA, Ill. – No. 6 Parkland men's basketball won the last regular season game at Illinois Central College (10-19) on Wednesday, February 26. The Cobras finish the season 27-2 and 11-1 in conference play, and go into postseason play as the No. 1 seed in the Region 24 tournament next week.
The Cougars started off strong, going on a 7-0 run at the beginning of the game. The Cobras battled back, taking their first lead of the game with 13:04 on the clock thanks to a
Kris English three-pointer. The score remained close in the first half, and the Cobras had pulled ahead 43-31 with 1:28 left. The Cougars managed to cut the lead by four points in the final minute of the half, but Parkland still led 43-35 at the break. Illinois Central scored the first two buckets of the second half, but the Cobras followed up with a 14-0 run to get their biggest lead of the game with 13:38 left. A few minutes later, the Cougars followed suit, going on their own 10-0 run to make the score 61-58. The Cobras didn't allow the Cougars to get any closer in the final minutes of the game, and the visitors secured the 71-64 win on the road.
