Box Score CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The No. 13 ranked Parkland College baseball team lost its first game of the season to No. 23 ranked (DI) John A. Logan College (11-5) on Friday, February 28.

The Cobras (6-1) got on the board in the 1st inning after a
Mark Mennecke triple scored three runs. Parkland then took the 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning thanks to a
John Shuey solo home run, but the Vols followed up by scoring six runs in the bottom of the inning. Each team continued to tack on runs throughout the game, but the Vols had another big 6th inning, scoring seven runs to go up 19-8. Shuey and
Alex Schimmel both got on base in the top of the 7th inning, but the Cobras were unable to score, and the Vols handed them the loss on the road.Â

Jarron Thompson (2.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) took the loss for the Cobras.
Cale Coursey (2.0 IP, 7 H, 7 ER, 3 BB) started the game, pitching two innings.
Richard Gomez (1.0 IP, 2 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 K),
Logan Gale (0.1 IP, 2 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K), and
Jake Perrino (0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K) also threw for Parkland.
