No. 14 Cobras Split Doubleheader with Lincoln Land

Parkland takes the regular season series 3-1 over LLCC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RANTOUL, Ill. – No. 14 Parkland baseball split a conference doubleheader with Lincoln Land Community College (10-9) on Tuesday, March 18. The teams battled in two high-scoring matchups, and the Cobras (11-6) were able to secure a win after falling to the Loggers in the first game of the doubleheader. 
 
Lincoln Land Community College 18, No. 14 Parkland College 16
The game started with the Loggers taking an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Parkland quickly responded with two runs in the bottom half, capitalizing on a single by Michael Carrano Jr. The Loggers drove in four runs the next inning, reclaiming a 5-2 advantage. Parkland answered emphatically with a nine-run explosion, with home runs from Jax Hisle, Michael Carrano Jr., and Dawson Magrini, surging ahead 11-5. The Loggers scored nine runs of their own in the top of the 3rd, and another four in the 7th. A home run from Jayden Patel in the bottom half of the inning cut the lead to 18-16, but the Cobras fell short in the first game of the doubleheader.

Alex McHale (2.1 IP, 2 BB, 3 K) took the loss for the Cobras, and Cale Coursey (4.1 IP, 0 BB, 5 K) came on in relief.

The Loggers started strong in the 1st, taking the 5-0 lead in the top half of the inning, but the Cobras added two runs in the bottom half. Both teams continued to compile runs, and the Loggers had the 9-4 lead in the 4th inning. In the 5th inning, Michael Carrano Jr. made it a 9-7 game with a three-run home run, and Jax Hisle tied it up in the 7th with a single to center field. Cody DelFavero singled in the bottom of the 8th to pull ahead of the Loggers, and the Cobras completed a double play in the top of the 9th to close out the game and secure the 11-10 victory. 
 
Jarron Thompson (2.0 IP, 5 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 4 BB, 5 K) started on the mound, and Alex Bergman (3.0 IP, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K) got the win. Logan Gale (4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K) pitched four innings for the Cobras. 
 
Up next,
the Cobras play a home doubleheader against Vincennes University (10-12) on Saturday, March 22. The first game is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
