Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College softball team earned two conference wins over Lincoln Land Community College (9-11) on Monday, March 24.
Maddie Gourley had six hits in the two games, and
Abbey Horeis launched two home runs in the second game. The Cobras (20-8) extended their win streak to 13 games after defeating the loggers 9-4 and 11-6.
Game 1: Parkland College 9, Lincoln Land Community College 4
Lucy Fearday got the Cobras on the board in the first inning with a single to center field. Parkland continued to extend the lead, and another Fearday single in the 4th inning gave the Cobras the 6-0 advantage. The Loggers started to close the gap the next two innings, and the score was 6-4 going into the bottom of the 6th. Base hits from
Abbey Horeis and
Lindsey Muskopf in the bottom of the 6th put the Cobras up 9-4, and the Loggers were unable to score again in the top of the 7th.

Lindsey Muskopf all had three hits in the win.
Mya Brown (4.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K) got the win and
Lucy Fearday (1 H, 0 R, 2 K) closed for the Cobras.
Game 2: Parkland College 11, Lincoln Land Community College 6
The Loggers took the 2-1 lead in the third inning, but the Cobras responded swiftly with five runs on six hits to take the 6-2 lead in the bottom of the inning.
Abbey Horeis launched a home run in the 4th inning to extend the lead to 7-2, and then sent another over the fence in the 5th inning to make the score 9-4. A base hit by
Reece Sarver and an error from the Loggers got the Cobras two more runs in the 6th, and despite the late push from the Loggers in the 7th inning, Parkland's defense held strong to earn the win. Horeis finished the game with three hits and three RBI.
Claire Black (5 BB, 2 K) got the win for the Cobras, surrendering eight hits and four runs in 4.2 innings.
Lucy Fearday (2.1 IP, 1 BB, 3 K) appeared in relief, allowing four hits and two runs.
Up next, the Cobras play a doubleheader at John Wood Community College (5-15) on Friday, March 28. The first game is scheduled for 2:00 pm in Quincy, Illinois.
