Box Score 2 CANTON, Ill. – No. 16 Parkland baseball earned two wins over Spoon River College (8-19) on Saturday, March 29. The Cobras (18-7) shutout the Snappers in game one and took the second game 12-4. Starting pitchers
Tyler Tylka (2-1) and
Cale Coursey (2-1) picked up wins on the mound, combining for nine strikeouts in the doubleheader.Â

The Cobras took an early lead in the 2nd inning when
Adison Worthman doubled, eventually scoring on a passed ball. The offense continued to build momentum in the fourth inning, with back-to-back doubles from
Cody DelFavero and
John Shuey, extending the lead to 4-0.
Nick Guidici and
Andrew Gallegos drove in key runs to put the game out of reach in the top of the 7th inning, and the Cobras won 10-0 over the Snappers. Guidici finished with three hits and two RBI.Â
Tyler Tylka (5.0 IP, 0 R, 4 BB) was dominant on the mound, striking out six batters and only allowing one hit in five innings. Reliever
Lane Lorton (2.0 IP, 0 BB, 3 K) closed out the game, ensuring the shutout with three strikeouts and no walks.Â

The Snappers got on the board first due to a Cobra error, but Parkland tied it in the 3rd inning after
Mark Mennecke delivered a clutch RBI double. In the 4th, the Cobras took the lead as
Michael Carrano Jr. doubled and was brought home by
Nick Guidici's single. Jaden Patel added to the momentum with an RBI single, extending the lead to 3-1. The 5th inning proved pivotal for the Cobras, as they exploded for six runs. Patient at-bats resulted in multiple walks, forcing in runs and putting the Cobras firmly in control at 9-1. The Snappers added a few runs late in the game, but they couldn't overcome the deficit, and the Cobras won 12-4. Guidici led the Cobras once again with two hits and four RBI.
Cale Coursey (1 R, 1 BB, 3 K) grabbed his second win of the season, allowing one hit in five innings.
Alex McHale (5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) went on in relief, pitching the final two innings of the game.Â
