Box Score CANTON, Ill. – The Parkland men's basketball team won over John Wood Community College (14-18) in the NJCAA DII Region 24 Tournament Semifinals on Friday, March 7. The top-seeded Cobras (29-2) kept the game close in the first half with the No. 4 seed Blazers, but started to pull away in the second half to finish out the win.Â
The Blazers got on the board first, but the Cobras responded quickly, going on a 12-0 run at the beginning of the game to pull ahead 12-3. The Blazers inched closer in the next several minutes, making it a three-point game with 7:30 on the clock. The Cobras continued to push forward, extending the lead to 10 points with 3:00 left in the half, after
Chandler Jackson sank a three-pointer. The Blazers cut the lead to nine points by halftime, and the Cobras led 31-22 at the break. John Wood stuck around for the first part of the second half, and it was a 10-point game at the 10-minute mark. Parkland started to pull away after that, and a
Jaiden Martin corner three-pointer gave the Cobras the 20-point lead with just over six minutes on the clock. The Blazers were unable to overcome the deficit, and the Cobras secured the 71-52 win to advance to the Region 24 Championship game.Â
Up next, the Cobras will face Region 24 No. 2 seed Rend Lake College (18-14) on Saturday, March 8, in the Region 24 Tournament Championship game. The game is scheduled for 4:00 PM in Canton, Illinois.Â
