Box Score 2 BRANSON, Mo. –  No. 25 Parkland softball dropped two games against Cowley County Community College (15-5) and NJCAA Division I Rose State College (11-11) in the Branson Grand Slam Classic on Saturday, March 8.
Nicole Sinks and
Tori Thomas had one hit in each game, and Sinks had the only RBI of the day.Â

Game 1: Cowley County Community College 4, No. 25 Parkland College 0

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 5th inning, when the Tigers scored a run and went up 1-0. The Cobras (6-9) were unable to get a hit in the top of the 6th, and the Tigers scored another three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Tori Thomas got a base hit to right field in the top of the 7th inning to give the Cobras a base runner, and then
Nicole Sinks drew the walk. However, Parkland could not string together any hits, and they fell to the Tigers 4-0. Parkland had three hits in the game from Sinks, Thomas, and
Mya Brown. The team collected eight walks in the loss.Â

Claire Black (5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) took the loss for the Cobras, allowing six hits and striking out five.
Lucy Fearday (1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) pitched the final inning for the Cobras.Â

Game 2: (DI) Rose State College 5, No. 25 Parkland College 1

Rose State got on the board early, and the Cobras trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the 1st inning. In Parkland's first at bat,
Maddie Gourley doubled to left field.
Tori Thomas then singled to right field, which advanced Gourley to third.
Nicole Sinks came up next, singling to center field to score Gourley, and the score was 3-1 going into the 2nd inning. Although the Cobras had three hits in the first inning, they struggled to compile hits for the rest of the game. Parkland was unable to score again, and fell to the Raiders 5-1.Â

Kailyn Wilson (4.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) took the loss and
Lucy Fearday (3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) came on in relief, allowing just one hit in three innings.Â

Up next, the Cobras host Kankakee Community College (2-8) in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 12. The first game is scheduled for 2:00 PM at the Parkland College softball field.Â
