Box Score 2 DANVILLE, Ill. – No. 23 Parkland College softball fell to Danville Area Community College (22-9) in a road doubleheader on Thursday, April 10. The Cobras (23-11) fell short in the first game despite outhitting the Jaguars 17-9 and dropped the second game 4-1 after losing an early lead.Â

Game 1: Danville Area Community College 8, No. 23 Parkland College 7

DACC got up 3-0 in the first two innings, but the Cobras pulled ahead 5-3 in the 5th inning on a
Lucy Fearday base hit.
Claire Black extended the lead to 7-4 in the 6th inning on a single to right field, but the Jaguars had a late comeback in the bottom of the 7th to earn the 8-7 win.
Maddie Gourley had four hits for the Cobras and
Claire Black knocked in three runs.Â

Mya Brown (4 H, 4 R, 2 ER) pitched five innings for Parkland, striking out one and walking four.
Lucy Fearday (4 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K) took the loss, throwing 1.2 innings and allowing five hits.Â

Game 2: Danville Area Community College 4, No. 23 Parkland College 1
Lucy Fearday opened the scoring in the 1st inning, hitting a line drive to right field that scored
Jordyn Turner. DACC responded quickly, getting the 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The Jaguars added another run late in the game, and the Cobras did not get another run across the plate.
Claire Black and
Kailee Otto each had two hits in the loss.Â
Claire Black took the loss (5.0 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 0 K) and
Lucy Fearday (1 H, 0 BB, 2 K) pitched one inning, allowing one run.Â
Up next, the Cobras compete in a doubleheader at Lewis & Clark Community College (3-19) on Saturday, April 12. The first game is scheduled for 1:00 pm in Godfrey, Illinois.Â
