Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 24 ranked Parkland softball team split a doubleheader with Illinois Central College (20-19) on Tuesday, April 15.
Kailee Otto hit a walk-off home run to get the win in the first game and pitcher
Mya Brown earned her 12th win of the season. The second game was also neck and neck, but the Cobras (28-12) fell short despite three hits from
Jordyn Turner and a valiant effort from pitchers
Claire Black and
Lucy Fearday.Â

Game 1: No. 24 Parkland College 5, Illinois Central College 4

The Cobras trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the 5th, but got on the board after
Nicole Sinks hit a solo home run.
Kailee Otto tied the game up 3-3 on a double to center, and then took the lead in the 6th when
Lucy Fearday drove in
Jordyn Turner. ICC answered in the top of the 7th to tie it 4-4, but Otto hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the inning to seal the win. Otto finished with three hits and three RBI.Â

Mya Brown (4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB) pitched all seven innings, allowing 10 hits and striking out seven.Â

Game 2: Illinois Central College 5, No. 24 Parkland College 3
Similar to the first game, the Cougars took an early 3-0 lead, but the Cobras tied it up 3-3 in the 3rd inning thanks to a Sinks two-run home run. ICC answered in the 4th to pull ahead 5-3, and Parkland couldn't string together hits to pull ahead of the Cougars after that. ICC outhit Parkland 9-6 in the win.
Jordyn Turner led the Cobras with three hits and
Nicole Sinks had two RBI.
Claire Black (5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 0 K) took the loss, throwing three innings and surrendering five hits.
Lucy Fearday (0 BB, 4 K) pitched four innings, allowing four hits and zero runs.Â
Up next, the Cobras play another home doubleheader against John Wood Community College (6-32-2) on Friday, April 18. The first game is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the Parkland College Softball Field.
