Claire Black each picked up a win, only allowing a combined two hits from the Blazers, and
Jordyn Turner and
Nicole Sinks each launched a home run in the pair of wins.Â

Game 1: No. 24 Parkland College 17, John Wood Community College 1
Parkland (30-12) opened the bottom of the 1st with a nine-run outburst, capped by a grand slam from
Jordyn Turner. The Cobras added three more runs in the 2nd and five more in the 3rd, showcasing depth throughout their lineup with multi-hit games from Turner, who finished the five-inning game with two hits and four RBI, and
Abbey Horeis,
Ellie Lowe,
Kailee Otto,
Claire Black, and
Lindsey Muskopf. The Cobra defense was also strong, with only one error recorded in the game.Â
Mya Brown (2 BB, 9 K) earned the win, throwing all five innings, surrendering just one hit and one run. Brown leads the Cobra pitchers in wins this season with 13.Â

The Cobras pulled ahead 3-0 on a
Maddie Gourley double in the 2nd inning, and broke the game open in the 4th with a
Nicole Sinks three-run home run to make the score 7-0. Cobra pitcher
Claire Black was dominant on the mound, only allowing one hit in five innings. She racked up six strikeouts to hold the Blazers scoreless. The Cobras had nine hits in the win, led by
Jordyn Turner with three. Parkland also drew six walks, with
Abbey Horeis and
Maddie Gourley drawing two each.Â
Up next, the Cobras play a road doubleheader at Heartland Community College (10-21-1) on Saturday, April 19. The first game is scheduled for 1:00 pm in Normal, Illinois.Â
