Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 24 ranked Parkland softball team wrapped up the regular season with a win and a loss on Sophomore Day against No. 23 Danville Area Community College (32-11) on Sunday, April 27. The Cobras have a 34-14 overall record (16-4 in conference) going into the Region 24 Tournament this week.Â

The Jaguars put two runs on the board in the top of the 1st, but the Cobras answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. DACC got another five runs in the next couple innings to extend the lead to 7-2, but the Cobras continued to battle until the end. In Parkland's last at bat, they worked the bases loaded, and
Jordyn Turner doubled to make the score 7-4. However, the Cobras couldn't overcome the deficit, and they fell to the Jaguars at home. The Cobras totaled nine hits, led by
Jordyn Turner with three.Â

Mya Brown (7.0 IP, 0 BB, 1 K) took the loss, surrendering 11 hits and seven runs (three earned).Â

Game 2: No. 24 Parkland College 4, Danville Area Community College 1
The Cobras struck first, manufacturing a run in the bottom of the 1st inning. After
Maddie Gourley reached on a bunt single and advanced to third, she executed a steal of home to give Parkland a 1–0 lead. Parkland steadily added to their advantage, scoring runs in the 3rd inning on an RBI groundout by
Claire Black and in the same inning with back-to-back hits fromÂ
Lindsey Muskopf and
Ellie Lowe. DACC managed to plate one run in the 7th inning, but the Cobras' defense stood firm, shutting down the late rally attempt to secure the win.
Claire Black (4.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K) got the win for the Cobras, and
Lucy Fearday (3.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) went on in relief.Â
