Box Score 2 DANVILLE, Ill. – No. 15 Parkland baseball split a road conference doubleheader at Danville Area Community College (7-23) on Tuesday, April 8. The Cobras (20-10) could not get on the board in the first game, but bounced back to pick up the 6-2 win in the second game.Â

The Cobras (20-10) got runners on base multiple times throughout the first game of the doubleheader, but they were unable to capitalize on opportunities in order to get on the board. The Parkland pitching staff was strong on the mound, only allowing two hits in seven innings. The Jaguars scored their only run on a wild pitch in the 4th inning.
Mark Mennecke and
Mateo Casillas each had one hit to lead the Cobras.Â
Tyler Tylka (4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K) took the loss and
Lane Lorton (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K) closed out the game for Parkland.Â

After both teams traded early runs, the Cobras broke the game open in the top of the 3rd inning. With the score tied 1-1,
Jayden Patel ripped a go-ahead RBI double, followed shortly by a two-run home run off the bat of
John Shuey, pushing the lead to 5-1. The Jaguars tacked on another run in the 4th inning, but the Cobras held on to the lead to win 6-2.
Adison Worthman led the visitors with three hits, and
Andrew Gallegos and
John Shuey had two RBIs each.Â
Cale Coursey (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB) got the win for the Cobras, throwing five innings and striking out four.
Logan Gale 3.0 IP, 0 BB, 3 K) and
Mike Boyce (1.0 IP, 0 BB, 3 K) also threw for Parkland in the win.Â
Up next, the Cobras play at Division I South Suburban College (22-8) on Wednesday, April 9. The game is scheduled for 3:00 pm in South Holland, Illinois.Â
