No. 5 Parkland Volleyball Goes 3-0 at First Day of Opening Weekend Tournament

Cobras roll past first three opponents for successful start to season

ROCKFORD, Ill. — The No. 5 ranked Parkland College Volleyball team opened its 2025 campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping Enterprise State Community College 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-23) in their first match of the tournament. The Cobras put together a balanced attack led by setter Hailey Warfel who guided the offense with 23 assists and 9 kills, while outside hitter Addie Beekman posted a strong all-around effort with 8 kills, 8 digs, and 2 blocks. Natalie Alexander chipped in 6 kills and 4 blocks at the net, and libero Anna McEwen anchored the back row with 15 digs as the Cobras controlled the match from start to finish.

In their second match of the day, the Cobras battled to a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18) victory over Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. Shay McMillen led the charge with a match-high 17 kills, while Hailey Warfel continued her strong setting performance with 33 assists and 9 kills of her own. Addie Beekman and Natalie Alexander added 8 and 7 kills respectively, as Parkland's depth proved too much for the opposition. Defensively, libero Anna McEwen anchored the back row with 33 digs, helping the Cobras withstand a late push to secure the win.

Parkland closed out opening day with a commanding 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-15) sweep over Century College. Bella McKinney made the biggest impact from the service line, recording 11 aces to go with 4 kills. Addie Roesch added six kills, while Sammi Christman contributed 5 kills and 2 blocks. Libero Anna McEwen steadied the defense with 14 digs, and Hailey Warfel dished out 15 assists as the Cobras closed the tournament with their third straight victory.

For the second day of the tournament, Parkland is scheduled to play two matches on August 23rd, against Schoolcraft College at 2:15PM and Kalamazoo Community College at 4:15PM.
