Box Score 2 ROCKFORD, Ill. — Parkland College Volleyball wrapped up a flawless Opening Weekend Tournament on Sunday, defeating Monroe Community College 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 25-6) before taking down Palm Beach State College 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-9). The Cobras finished the weekend 7-0, showcasing balance, depth, and strong defensive play.
In the day's opening match, Parkland outlasted Monroe behind the strong play of Shay McMillen, who tallied 18 kills and hit .400. Bella McKinney added 9 kills, while setter Hailey Warfel ran the offense with 39 assists and chipped in 5 kills. The defense was led by libero Anna McEwen, who recorded a team-high 28 digs.Â
The Cobras carried that momentum into their finale, sweeping Palm Beach State with one of their most efficient offensive performances of the tournament, hitting .385 as a team. McMillen again led the way with 13 kills on .440 hitting, while McKinney and Alexander chipped in six and seven kills apiece. Warfel directed the offense with 29 assists and added 6 kills, and McEwen anchored the back row with 16 digs as Parkland closed its opening weekend on a perfect 7-0 run.
Up next, the Cobras will host Lincoln Land Community College on Wednesday, August 27th, at 6:00PM.Â
