Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — September 19, 2025 — The No. 6 Parkland College volleyball team showed grit and determination on the opening day of the Parkland Fall Challenge. The Cobras dropped a five-set battle to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC): 24–26, 25–15, 19–25, 25–20, 12–15. In their second match of the day, the Cobras once again went the distance but fell short against Kirkwood Community College: 25–19, 14–25, 16–25, 25–19, 11–15.
Against DMACC, Parkland was led by Shay McMillen's 16 kills and 16 digs, while Addie Beekman contributed 6 kills and a team-high 26 digs. Setter Hailey Warfel guided the offense with 38 assists and added 14 digs, while Natalie Alexander chipped in 10 kills and 4 block assists at the net.
In their second match of the day against Kirkwood, McMillen once again paced the attack with 16 kills and 20 digs, while Warfel tallied 29 assists and 12 digs. Beekman anchored the back row with 26 digs, and Alexander added another steady performance at the net with 5 kills and 2 blocks.
Despite the two losses, the Cobras showed resilience, taking both opponents to the full five sets and trading momentum throughout each match.
Parkland (22-3 )will continue play at the Fall Challenge Saturday, September 20th, beginning with Hawkeye Community College at 9:00 AM, followed by Lake Michigan College at 11:00 AM.
