Box Score QUINCY, Ill. — September 25, 2025 — Parkland College men's soccer secured a hard-fought Region 24 victory on Thursday afternoon, defeating John Wood Community College 1–0 on the road. The win moves the Cobras to 6–5 on the season.
The match was decided early when Isaac Warren converted a penalty kick in the 6th minute to give Parkland the lead. The Cobras held firm from there, keeping the Blazers scoreless despite playing down a man after a second-half red card.
Head coach Mark Sikora praised his squad's resilience and defensive effort:
"Tough match against a Region 24 opponent today. After an early breakthrough from Isaac Warren, the game settled into a fairly even affair with neither side able to capitalize on their scoring chances. I was very proud of the defending group of Bertie, Kaya, Liam, Noah, Victor, and Anthony. They kept us ahead and helped goalkeeper Tom Evers secure his first shutout of the season."
Parkland generated 15 shots, with 7 on goal, while the defense and goalkeeping corps preserved the clean sheet under pressure. The result marked the team's third Region 24 victory of the season and provided a strong response after last week's grueling stretch.
Up next, the Cobras will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, to face Madison College on Saturday, September 27th.
