NORMAL, Ill. — September 3, 2025— In an electrifying top-10 matchup, No. 3 Parkland College and No. 6 Heartland Community College squared off in a battle that lived up to its billing. The Cobras came out strong with a first-set win but ultimately fell in four sets (25-23, 16-25, 15-25, 16-25).

Parkland was led by Shay McMillen, who posted a team-high 10 kills and added 10 digs, while Bella McKinney followed with 9 kills. Addie Beekman contributed 8 kills and a team-best 18 digs, while Natalie Alexander added 5 kills and 6 block assists in a strong performance at the net. Setter Hailey Warfel tallied 34 assists to go with 21 digs, while libero Anna McEwen anchored the defense with 34 digs, giving Parkland opportunities to extend rallies throughout the night.

Despite the setback, the Cobras showed resilience in long rallies and defensive stands, pushing Heartland throughout the match. Parkland finished with 41 kills and 109 digs as a team but could not overcome Heartland's offensive efficiency in the final three sets. The matchup between the two ranked programs highlighted the strength of Region 24 play and sets the stage for what is sure to be a competitive season ahead.

Up next, the Cobras will host Waubonsee Community College and Rend Lake College on September 7th at 11:00AM and 1:00PM, respectively.
