CREVE COEUR, Mo. — September 5, 2025 — Parkland College men's soccer bounced back in decisive fashion on Friday, earning a statement win as they defeated No. 18 Mineral Area College 4–1.
After trading goals in the opening half, the Cobras exploded for three unanswered in the second. Gustavo Poli led the attack with two goals and an assist, while Rommy Hassan and Christophin Ngassam each added a tally to round out the scoring. Assists also came from Ngassam, Santiago Samame, and Noah Molitor, highlighting a balanced, team-oriented attack.
Head coach Mark Sikora praised his team's performance, "Such a great response against No. 18 Mineral Area, a team that played similarly to our last opponent. Our guys stayed committed to how we wanted to play and it turned out very well…[and] kudos to Rommy Hassan for…scoring his first career goal!"
The Cobras finished with 14 shots, placing 8 on frame, while holding Mineral Area to a single goal. With the win, Parkland secures its first victory over a ranked opponent this season and gains early-season momentum heading into conference play.
The victory pushes Parkland's record to 3–1–0 on the season. The Cobras will return to action on September 9th when they take on Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, IL, at 2:00PM .
