Stacey Birdsong is in his 5th year as an Assistant Coach with the Parkland College Softball program. In addition to the Cobras' success, Birdsong was named the 2021 NJCAA DII Assistant Coach of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Before Parkland, Birdsong spent 15 years coaching baseball at various levels. In his last five years of coaching baseball, Birdsong spent as General Manager and Head Coach of the American Legion Baseball program in Mattoon, IL.
"I look forward to getting our season started in August every year," Birdsong says, "It is always great to see our players grow as softball players and, even more importantly, into great students and mature independent adults. I regularly talk with our players regarding the appreciation for the opportunity to play at this level, and I have that same appreciation for coaching at this level. It is a privilege to coach alongside Dan and Kristi Paulson year in and year out and to coach these great young athletes."
Stacey has been married to his wife, Paula, for 28 years, and they have two children, Haley, 24, and Hayden, 22. When not on the field coaching or practicing, Stacey enjoys traveling with his wife to see their children and playing golf.
