Bill Dobrik

Bill Dobrik enters his 12th season as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator on Head Coach Laura Litchfield’s staff.

Since joining the Cobras’ staff in 2011, Dobrik has helped maintain Parkland’s national presence with four trips to the NJCAA National Tournament, highlighted by the program’s first ever appearance in the NJCAA National Championship game. In addition to the four top-10 finishes, the Cobras have won the Region 24 title three times and the Mid-West Athletic Conference in all eight seasons. Overall, Parkland is 260-89 in Dobrik’s 12 seasons.

Individually, Dobrik has mentored seven NJCAA All-Americans and six Mid-West Athletic Conference Players of the Year. Additionally, Coach Dobrik’s players have continued their athletic pursuits after Parkland with 36 players transferring to a four-year university.

As part of sending his players on to the next level, 26 players have been bestowed with the NJCAA Academic All-America honor. As a team, each of the last three Cobras squads have finished with a team GPA of 3.3 or higher.

In 2015, the Lady Cobras had its best basketball season in program history with a runner-up finish in the NJCAA Tournament. After dropping its first game of the season, the Cobras reeled off 35 wins in a row, including a perfect 10-0 conference record, to reach the National Championship game. Dropping the game on a last second shot by Johnson County, the Cobras finished 35-2 on the season while averaging 77.3 points per game with the second-best shooting percentage (47.0%) in the country.

Prior to his time with the Cobras, Dobrik served seven years as an assistant coach at Indiana Wesleyan University from 2004 to 2011. Like at Parkland, Dobrik’s teams went a combined 181-39, highlighted by a 2007 NAIA National Championships and a perfect 38-0 record, and won four conference championships. With eight players on the roster in 2013 that were recruited by Dobrik, Indiana Wesleyan again won the NAIA National Championship. Overall, Dobrik coached eight NAIA All-Americans and nine NAIA Academic All-Americans.

A native of Champaign, Illinois, and graduate of Centennial High School, Dobrik earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois where he majored in Kinesiology. Dobrik currently works full-time at Human Kinetics publishing, serving as the company’s Senior Sales Manager for Southeastern universities.
