Dr. Reuben May

Dr. Reuben A. Buford May is an assistant coach for the Parkland Community College Women’s basketball team. Dr. May has coached basketball for over 20 years at various levels including serving as an assistant coach for girls and boys high school basketball for 10 years in Georgia. Several of those teams competed for regional championships and played in the state playoff tournament. In addition to his team coaching, Dr. May has served as a development coach for a number of athletes who have gone on to play NCAA Division I, II, and III men’s and women’s college basketball. Dr. May prides himself on individual skill development and effective team and individual scouting. He started his playing career at Aurora University and was both the J.V. captain and team MVP as well as the winner of the 1986 Rich Rickey Most Improved Player Award at Aurora University. Dr. May is enthusiastic about education and is the author of three books including Living Through the Hoop: High School Basketball, Race, and the American Dream
