Starting with her final game of December, sophomore forward Micah Tapscott has fired off seven straight double-digit scoring performances, highlighted by a double-double in her most recent game on January 26 against Danville Area. Averaging 9.3 points per game in November and 10.1 in December, Tapscott has been a constant leader on the court in the first month of 2019 with 15.8 points per game. Aiding the offensive presence was an increased shooting efficiency from both the field and free-throw line. Tapscott upped her shooting percentage by 12.6 percent from December – hitting 53.8 percent of her shots – while also raising her free-throw percentage from 50 percent up to 84.6 percent. On the defensive end, the second-year Cobra has maintained her year-long presence on the glass with 6.5 rebounds per game while also averaging a block per game. Highlighting the six-game January slate was the Petersburg, Ill., native’s domination against Kankakee on January 15. Leading the Cobras to a 64-49 home victory, Tapscott tied her career high with 27 points, hitting 75 percent of her field goal attempts, and grabbed seven rebounds.
