The Parkland College Men's Basketball team got back to their winning ways Saturday as they picked up an important 78-67 road victory over Rend Lake. The Cobras had lost their previous two games and needed the win to stay within striking distance of the top spot in NJCAA Region 24.
PC jumped out to an early 8-0 lead only to see the Warriors go on a 6-0 run of their own. The two teams trades scoring spurts for most of the half with the Cobras finally taking a 38-31 lead into the intermission.
Isaiah Curry (9 points and 5 boards) along with Devonte Daniels (4 points and 5 rebounds) paced the Cobras for the opening 20 minutes.
In the second half, Parkland would push the lead to as many as 14 before Rend Lake would make one more run and would eventually get the Cobra lead down to five. PC would answer back with a 5-0 run and kept their lead at double digits for the remainder of the contest.
Marcus Latham led the way with 19 points and 4 assists while Daniels ended up with a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Isaiah Curry added 11 points, 8 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots while
Jordache Mavunga came off the bench to score 13. Parkland had 15 assists on the night and committed just 9 turnovers.
Parkland (17-4) will be back in action this Tuesday night when they travel to Springfield to take on the Loggers of Lincoln Land in another key M-WAC and Region 24 game.
