CHAMPAIGN, Ill. —Parkland College Athletics has named Jaiden Martin and Sofia Perez as its March Athletes of the Month, recognizing two standout performers who played pivotal roles during postseason competition.
Martin, a sophomore guard from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, delivered a historic March in leading the Cobras to regional, district, and national championships. Despite losing a front tooth during tournament play, Martin remained a relentless presence on the court, averaging 34.4 minutes and 23.4 points per game. He shot an impressive 50.3% from the field, 41% from three-point range, and 86% from the free throw line throughout the month. His dominant postseason performance earned him NJCAA Division II Player of the Year honors, along with recognition on the All-Tournament Team, Region 24 Player of the Year, and All-Region 24 and All-MWAC First Team selections.
On the women's side, freshman guard Sofia Perez, from Bucaramanga-Santander, Colombia, emerged as a key contributor in guiding the Cobras to the national tournament. Perez averaged 31.5 minutes per game in March while producing 16.5 points, 3 assists, and 4 steals per game. She shot 44.8% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc, showcasing her versatility and efficiency on both ends of the floor. Her strong play earned her Second Team All-Conference honors, solidifying her impact in her first collegiate season.
Martin and Perez's performances highlight the competitive excellence and championship mentality that define Parkland College Athletics.
