The Parkland Men used a 14-2 second half run Friday as they pulled away for a 78-65 win over Lincoln Land in the opening round of the Region 24 Tournament. The win for the Cobras, avenged a disappointing loss to the Loggers last Saturday, which cost PC a share of the M-WAC title. Parkland will now take on rival Danville at 3:00 tomorrow on the Jaguars home court. The two teams split their prior two contests with each winning on the others home court.

Isaiah Curry early, as he scored the first 8 points of the game as PC jumped out to the quick 8-0 lead. The Loggers would finally get on the board with 14:43 to go in the half after hitting a long three. PC would stretch their lead to 25-15 with 3:15 before half but the Loggers would drain three more 3's to cut the PC lead to 32-26 at the break. PC shot 46% to 29% for LLCC but the Loggers made 6 three's to just two for Parkland.
The second half started with both teams trading baskets before the Cobras would extend their lead from 38-33 to 48-36 with 13:31 to go. Back to back three's for Lincoln Land would cut the margin back to six with 12:04 left on the clock before the Cobras would take control.
Marcus Latham knocked down a three, followed by buckets by De'Vonte Daniels and Quin Notingham, and another Latham basket made it 57-44 with 9:47 left. Five straight Logger points cut the margin to eight but PC followed with a 14-2 run as the Cobras took a 71-51 lead with 5 minutes left in the contest. Parkland would lead by as many as 24 before Lincoln Land scored the final 11 points of the game for the final margin of victory.
PC was led by Curry who finished the contest with 22 points and 9 rebounds.
Tyohn Trimble had a strong game with 14 points while DeVonte Daniels and
Dirk Jordan each had 10. Quin Nottinham had just 5 points but finished with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. D'Aaron Owens led all scorers with 29 points for the Loggers as he made 11-15 shots including 5 of 6 from behind the arc. PC shot 53% to 41% for the Loggers, won the battle of the boards 37-27, and handed out 20 assists.
