SPRINGFIELD, IL – No. 1 Parkland volleyball swept the second pair of four matches at the Lincoln Land Tournament, winning in straight sets over Northeast CC (25-13, 25-13, 25-22) and Waubonsee (25-16, 25-13, 25-10). The Cobras have now won 30 straight matches to improve to 47-1 overall for the season. Individually,
Brooke Norder, who currently has 1353 career digs, entered the Cobras top-4 in that category. She also currently ranks 8th in career aces with 108.
In Match 1 (Northeast), the offensive attack was led by
Summerlyn Smith (25 assists) and
Rachel Verdun (20 assists) who setup their teammates
Amanda Greening (14 kills),
Abigail Burnett (13 kills), and
Ryleigh Warfel (11 kills, 17 digs). The Cobras defense was anchored by Warfel,
Brooke Norder (14 digs, 1 ace), and
Ellie Stone (14 digs), who were helped out at the net by
Paige Yoder (4 blocks) and
Hannah Benson (3 blocks).
In Match 2 (Waubonsee),
Amanda Greening (9 kills) and
Abigail Burnett (7 kills, 3 blocks) led the team in kills and were assisted primarily by
Rachel Verdun (16 assists) and
Summerlyn Smith (13 assists). Defensive standouts at the net included Burnett,
Dakota Harmon (3 blocks) and
Paige Yoder (3 blocks), and
Brooke Norder (12 digs) led the team to 57 total digs.
