CHAMPAIGN, IL – The Parkland Men's Soccer Team moved to 8-4-1, and extended their current winning streak to 4, with a non-conference victory over St. Louis CC.
The score was level until the 24
th minute when
Tyler Arias found space in the right corner and sent a ball toward the top of the box.
Yu Sasaki took a touch and sent it low into the corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. This score remained through the half and into the 52
nd minute, when
Jakob Schoon sent a high ball in from the left corner.
Francisco Andrade volleyed the ball in the air and directly into the goal from 15 yards out, for what would ultimately be the winning goal.
In the 68
th minute, St. Louis scored off a rebound from the post, which raised the level of intensity of the match. In the 81
st minute, a collision knocked the Cobra keeper,
Matteo Gigliozzi, and a St. Louis opponent, out of the match. The Cobra defense rose to the challenge, and backup keeper,
Artem Burnett, made 2 late saves, preserving the win.
