CHAMPAIGN, IL – The Parkland Men's Soccer Team moved to 9-4-1, and extended their current winning streak to 5, with a non-conference victory over Millikin JV.
The scoring opened early, only 40 seconds into the match, when
Yu Sasaki (2 assists) took a shot that bounced off the Millikin keeper. It was quickly re-directed into the goal by
Ivai Warella (1 goal). Later, in the 38
th minute, Sasaki again found a teammate, this time
Takumi Seo (1 goal). Seo's goal provided a 2-0 lead with held through the half.
After the half, in the 56
th minute,
Francisco Andrade (1 goal) was set-up by
Naoto Uede (1 assist) and placed it sharply in the left side of the net. Less than one minute later,
Hugo Parada (1 assist) sent a diagonal ball in to
Jonathan Velasquez (1 goal) who was able to slide it past the Millikin keeper for the Cobras' final tally.
The Cobras defense allowed only 2 shots on goal.
Artem Burnett (2 saves) kept a clean sheet for Parkland in goal, saving both of those shots and preserving the team's 6
th shutout.
