OLNEY, IL. –Parkland women's basketball (6-0) won their 6
th game in a row with a
73-53 win over Olney Central College (2-3).
The Blue Knights came out hot, hitting five 3-pointers in the 1st quarter, scoring 22 points, and putting the Cobras in an early hole. Foul trouble on the posts and injuries tested the team's guards and the depth of the bench.
Peyton Crowe (13 points, 7 rebounds) stepped up at that point and scored 11 of her eventual 13, and
Ariana Booker (17 points) came off the bench to lead the team in scoring for the game. The defense also picked up, and after that 1
st quarter, Parkland limited Olney Central to only 31 additional points.
In the 3
rd period,
Emily Meinert (15 points, 9 rebounds) sparked the offense by scoring 12 of her 15 total points. Additional offensive assistance came from
Bree Trimble (13 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds). Leading on the boards were Meinert, Crowe,
Kiersten Price-Wilson (6 rebounds), and
Cassie Russo (6 rebounds).
