CHAMPAIGN, IL - The No. 16 Parkland men's basketball team moved to 5-2 with an 85-70 win over Illinois Valley CC (3-5).
Three-point shots have recently begun to fall for the Cobras, as
Carter Jeffries (17 points, 4 rebounds) and
Charles Campbell Jr. (15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists) combined for 8 of the team's total of 10. Additional double-digit scorers included
Bruno Williams Jr. (13 points, 5 rebounds), Samaj Danley II (13 points), and
Joey Saracco (12 points, 10 rebounds), the latter recording the game's only double-double. Helping the cause were
Kamari Kenemore (5 assists) and
Tommy Makabu (5 assists) who combined for 10 of the team's 23 assists. Led by Saracco, Parkland ended the game with a 31-22 rebounding advantage.
Parkland held the visiting Eagles to only 23 points in the first half, and led by 22 at that point. Illinois Valley outscored the Cobras in the 2
nd half, 47-40, but, in the end, could not overcome the full deficit.
