CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The No. 17 Parkland men's basketball team (9-3) dropped Wilbur Wright College (3-9) by a final score of 80-70.
The Cobras and Rams battled back-and-forth in the first half, with Parkland eventually taking a slim 38-37 lead. In the second half, the Cobras took control, outscoring Wilbur Wright 42-33, leading to the game's final margin of 10.
Offensive leaders for Parkland were
Carter Jeffries (25 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks), who was 5-7 from 3-point range,
Tommy Makabu (17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists), and
Bruno Williams Jr. (12 points, 4 assists). Sam Beesley (3 assists) combined with Williams Jr. and Makabu for 10 of the team's 17 assists. Defensively,
Joey Saracco (3 blocks),
Kelvin Swims (3 blocks), and Jeffries combined for 8 of the team's 9 blocks.
Charles Campbell Jr. (7 rebounds) equaled Makabu and Jeffries on rebounds, as the three totaled 21 of Parkland's 39.
