GREENVILLE, IL –No. 12 Parkland women's basketball (8-0) cruised to its eighth victory of the season, winning 70-22 over the Greenville University JV team.
The Cobras defense was strong from the start, as the JV Panthers were unable to score in the opening 9 minutes. Parkland was up 22-3 after one quarter and then extended the lead to 39-8 at the half. All twelve Cobras chipped in offensively, led by
Emily Meinert (12 points, 3 assists, 3 blocks),
Naomi McDaniel (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals),
Cassie Russo (8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals), and
Lotte Miller (8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals).
The swarming Parkland defense dominated the second half as well, at the Cobras corralled a season-high 21 steals, including a combined 19 from McDaniel,
Sam Jones-Tinsley (6 points, 3 steals),
Ariana Booker (3 steals),
Bree Trimble (3 steals), Russo, Miller, and
Nia Neal (2 steals).
Greenville was also forced into 35 turnovers. Each of the twelve Cobras had at least one rebound, with McDaniel, Russo, and
Alex Specht (7 points, 5 rebounds) leading the way.
