BELLEVILLE, IL –No. 12 Parkland women's basketball (9-0) extended its season-opening winning streak to 9 games with a 75-41 defeat of the Lindenwood-Belleville JV team on Thursday night.
The Cobras got off to a slow start, conceding several 3-point shots and allowing the Lynx to jump ahead, 23-21, midway through the 2nd quarter. By the half, Parkland had regained the lead, 33-26. As the third period began, increased energy and focus from the Cobras sparked a rally that helped them outscore Lindenwood 42-15 in the second half. Parkland dominated the boards, with 22, of their total of 66, on the offensive end.
Emily Meinert (12 points, 19 rebounds) and
Bree Trimble (16 points, 10 rebounds) each produced a double-double, with Trimble securing a season-high in rebounds. Additional key contributors included
Peyton Crowe (13 points, 7 rebounds) and
Cassie Russo (9 points, 9 rebounds).
