CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland Cobra Volleyball defeated No. 12 Lincoln Land Community in a home M-WAC opener in three straight sets. The No. 2 ranked Cobras improved to 9-0 on the season while No. 12 Lincoln Land is 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the M-WAC.
Parkland rolled to the three straight set victory with scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-10. Parkland had 46 kills on 92 attempts good for a .391 hitting percentage.
Abigail Burnett had 13 kills to lead the Cobra and tie her career best. Burnett, a sophomore outside hitter, was 13 for 17 (.765).
Sophomore Rachel Verden contributed 24 assists while Brooke Norder led the team with 23 digs.
Parkland is to travel to the Owens Tournament in Perrysburg, OH on Friday. They face No. 5 Catawaba Valley at 9 a.m.; Vincennes at 12:30 p.m. and Oakland at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the Cobras are to play Grand Rapids at 9 a.m. and then at 1:30 p.m. vs. Edison State. The tournament wraps up on Sunday with matches against Muskegon at 9 a.m. and then Sinclair at 10:45 a.m.
